Today a female Garda was arrested in connection with disclosing information which inevitabley led to the resignation of Trevor Sargent.
leaks and leaks and more leaks
and moles
and brothelgate debacles
And what about Willie O? and his Garda Leak? Well, he suddenly 'can't remember'! A number of interviews were apparently conducted in Henry Street over the last number of weeks. Of course, it was evident that nothing would come of same. Poor ole Willie just couldn't 'recall' the name of the Garda that passed, leaked *cough cough* information to him.
Memory is deceptive because it is coloured by today's events.......

they released that garda without charge, preparing a file for the DPP. I doubt she will be fined the €50,000 or jailed for 5 years. They didn't detain her very long either. That would be like admitting there is an actual problem within the garda siochana! It's going on for years, not only in Dublin but around the country. Willie O'Dea will never disclose where he got his information from. He needs them. Fachtna Murphy rushing through an investigation is the biggest joke of all. It's just propaganda. He will do nothing. Henry Street is riddled. There are constant complaints going in there and not one of them even get a slap on the wrist.
ReplyDeleteIt's good you are hitting on this Hive.
ReplyDeleteThe Leader has a bit on Willie O'Dea. According to them, two of their Journalists were questioned by the Gardai. Interesting though that the Leader waited weeks and weeks before releasing the infamous tape! I used to have great time for the local rag, but lately it's become just that, a rag. I've noticed a very one sided approach in most of their stories and they are very slow to publish anything that questions Garda or Judicial corruption.
What disgusts me is that it's the Gardai themselves investigating. I smell a cover up already.

Garda corruption will always be swept under the carpet. What can we expect when the Garda Ombudsman came out with a report last year saying the Gardai are not intrinsically corrupt! The Ombudsman is not independent. It was set up as a result of the corruption in Donegal. Most of their complaints are passed directly to the Gardai themselves and very few prosecuted even those passed to the DPP!
ReplyDeleteOne actual prosecution that springs to mind was December last year when two Gardai were fined (one from Store Street and one from Mountjoy Garda Station) for assault and ordered to pay €500 compensation. These boyos were called to an incident at a pub that was being filmed by the guy they assaulted.

Isn't it amazing though that it always seems to be the same Garda Stations popping up again and again and again. Not the first time for Store Street Dublin.
Garda Ombudsman blames procedural shortcomings for death in custody - Store Street and the Terence Wheelock case.

the Kieran Boylan drug dealer case? I'm fairly sure store street Gardai were involved in that. Bit investigation there. Allegations of Garda collusion! I heard through the grape vine that someone from Limerick made complaints against gardai in Store Street.
ReplyDeleteand the Robert McNulty case a few years ago, he was also based on Store Street, a Sergeant. The Garda who leaked information to the Evening Herald (Dean Lyons case)
