The virus is spreading .........
In recent weeks residents in various estates around Limerick have started to voice their opinions and fears in relation to an ongoing campaign of intimidation and harassment by individuals housed in said estates by the local Council. Some of the sheisters causing all the trouble are as young as 8 and 9 years old and this has been going on for nearly a decade, with primary focus this week on Fairview Crescent, Garryowen .
Residents are living in fear and with some fleeing said estates due to fears for their safety. It is alleged that over 15 families have fled Fairview Crescent due to threats and intimidation.
Despite numerous complaints to the Council about the anti social behaviour in these estates, nothing constructive seems to have been done thus far.
Castletroy, Raheen, Dooradoyle and areas in County Limerick seem to be the worst hit in this situation. It is alleged the Council are buying up houses in these areas, right, left and centre! It seems the ongoing problem has now become widespread, rather than confined to one particular area.
Twelve orders of repossession have come before the courts. Another 58 tenants voluntarily surrendered their homes after numerous complaints were made against them. A total of 69 homes have been taken back. via Independent
The Counicl are 'sticking' families in to various estates around the City and people in these estates are at a loss as to who will be stuck alongside them next,
"They seem to be pushing the undesirables out, that nobody wants and nobody has control over," chairman of the Russell Court Residents' Association in Ballykeeffe, Mike Cussen, told the Irish Independent.
"There are anti-social problems everywhere now and the virus has spread. They will stick anyone in on top of you. No one is taking control of the situation," he added.
And what do the local Gardai seem to be doing to combat same?
That's what I'd like to know!

relations of mine sold up to the council. they moved in a family behind them and they have young children and couldn't get out fast enough. not in fairview crescent mind you but out the dublin road. council bought up about 5 houses there last year. my relations were paying a mortgage and working hard for their house and then to be confronted by thugs as young as 9 and 10 with knives and exposing themselves to other kids in the area. they put their house up for sale and couldn't sell it, sure who would buy it and want to live next to a shower of scum. council offered them a price, a low price but they took it just to get out of there so they sold their house to the council and a lot of other families in the area want to get out as well and sell up. gardai are always to busy to deal with the trouble.

ReplyDeleteI know a family in Southill who were offered €20,000 to move out of Southill and offered a bran spanking new house by the Council. They refused the first offer so the offer was uppped to €30,000!!! They took the offer and moved to a new house in castletroy somewhere. They now have that new house for life, no mortgage and are driving around in a brand new car out of the €30,000 they were given. They are a nice family, not trouble makers and I heard that a lot of people are being offered a lot of money by the Council to move out of Southill and be relocated to new houses all over the city. Even the scum are being offered money. I wish someone would give me €30,0000 for nothing!
ReplyDeleteThe council must have bought up over ten houses near me in the last year, two years. There is a couple after moving in down the road from me who have just moved from o'malley park and i heard the council paid them 20,000 euro to move. it must be part of the regeneration thing. My partner and myself are struggling to pay a mortgage and with only one of us working we are barely keeping our heads above board. We tried to sell our house last week and couldnt, we didnt get one offer. Who would want to buy into an estate that the council are buying up. The value of our house has dropped because of this and we wouldn't even get near what we paid for it. There are three houses down the road, side by side, that the Council bought and moved three families into. They all know each other, all lived and moved from Southill. One of those families causing a lot of trouble, the other two seem to be ok. Even if we did manage to sell our house and buy someone else, there is still no guarantee that the council won't start sticking whoever in there as well. No fear they would stick them in next to themselves though!

ReplyDeleteheadline on live95 that family were evicted, but they are not evicted cos the judge put a stay on it! and even if they are moved out they will find a new house for them which is a joke and as someone said about, wouldn't be surprised if they paid the troublemakers money when they moved them out. them two brazen kids have been in front of that judge loads of times.

Evicted my ass, they will be given a new house in some other estate and cause trouble there then. ReplyDeletewell I heard that troubled family want a new house in Monaleen Castletroy,and you know what, they will get it! These sort of people lay down the law and get away with it. The Council are buying up houses in Castletroy area. Wait and see, in years to come, Castletroy, Raheen, Annacotty, Dublin Road will be the new ghetto. And I also heard that the scum are being paid money to move to new estates. Heard that a family were given 25 grand to move and they bought a big 50inch tv and new car!
